Big 10 Talk

bluska, bluska, bluska

I wish I could understand how this forum gig works for you. If I could, I would then be able to understand Kevin A, Blue Hwys, and FY as well. All four of you are cut out of the exact same mental mold. All of you get your jollies out of coming on here and irritating people. I mean we all like to rib each other a little but you four take it to a whole different level. No comprendo. No doubt you guys get some kind of emotional release by doing so. Well, maybe not Kevin A anyways cause he died. Unless he has been reincarnated into someone else, which my guess is, he probably has. I admit it. I just don't get it.

Bluska the Obscure

SI in an effort to be a little less complicated than the Collegiate Directors of Athletics, came up with a different scoring system, a three-pronged formula that puts the emphasis on national titles, top 30 finishes and conference championships. These included 11 men's and 11 women's sports.

Now before you go lambasting SI as a gaseous piece of illiterate reporting, remember they are featuring three of your football players on their cover.

Of course you and some Sparty's on this board believe that there are only 2 or 3 sports that deserve recognition and of course those are the ones in which you've had some success.

I believe you dishonor the athletes of all colleges by minimizing the importance of their chosen sport. If you had a child that chose to run track and field instead of play football, would you belittle him like you do other athletes on this board? By the way you present yourself and your opinions I would say probably so.

The fact that Michigan has a tendency to win conference championships in more than just football is a tribute to their coaches and their programs.

You really should take a lesson from Bucky and Brutus and learn a little tact and class. Gee you may even learn how to comprehend what you read instead of shooting blanks from your hip.

I wasn't able to get it last year. I have a little hope cause of the breakthru with comcast, but I haven't had a chance to check. I have Charter but I think Comcast owns Charter, ??? Will know soon.

Gee

The gas quotient just rocketed, (pun intended) through the roof. The Lady has weighed in. So. UM wins in some completely inconsequential sports and they deserve some accolades? whatever.

Michigan's Award

Sports Illustrated ranks Michigan in top 25 of college programs.

Lady Blue

"That is pseudo comfort. You and I both know you would trade that little ranking in for a w over OSU in football anyday. :)

buckeyes1, greer, sc"

Hey Bucky

No I wouldn't trade that ranking nor honor for a win over OSU. We've won more football games than you and it will start again soon. And that win just wasn't for football, it covered all programs therefore a shared and much deserved honor among Michigan athletes and their coaches.

40 days until kickoff. Since you live in SC, do you have the capability of purchasing the Buckeye games that will be televised on the BTN through your cable or dish? I often wondered about that for the fans who live out of the BTN area.

Oh

And. Troy Smith was a four star recruit that chose OSU over his other highest consideration West Virginia. And, The Rod. Oops.

Sat. 07/19/08 11:18 PM

PC

First. you have NO IDEA, NO IDEA of what you speak. You are the one that typifies the fan base. The UM arrogance is over the top.

Who offers: Pat White was a two star recruit that The Rod uncovered and made a Heisman candidate. One. Rod recruited some four and five star guys to WVU that were major flops. Because they were dirt bags. But, no one mentions them. They only bring up the king of the broken play. A guy that posted numbers against Syracuse, Temple and UConn. Obviously. You deserve a Shut up. I mean, come on.

Bluska

Who said other coaches don't? Anyone? msumick talked about how you need a spectacular qb and the point I made was that White wasn't a spectacular qb coming out of hs. He was developed into one by that bum RR. Kind of like Troy Smith.

You know Bluska, you have become a complete ahole. Gaylan didn't do anything but attempt to have a civil conversation with you but you were completely incapable of it.

I made one legitimate, factual post to msumick, not you and you start with "simpleton" and "shut up" to me.

You have become the biggest tool on this site. You are a microcosm of what many unfortunately think of your fanbase. Too bad for the good guys like buckeye1, brutus and other good OSU posters.

Sat. 07/19/08 10:55 PM

Good Lord

Would you simpletons shut it?

One. EVERY coach in D1 gets guys that aren't four and five stars that become great players. James Laurinitis and AJ HAwk are two examples from Ohio State. There are more. Shut up.

Gaylan. As for arrogance. The mere fact that you believe you are incapable of displaying it is proof you suffer from it. UM is not guaranteed to be a great football for all times. I know you are incapable of understanding the point. Don't bother responding with the usual piffle. Supergoo has the bases covered.

That 7-5 team underacieved. The young guys on this team come in with the same credentials those guys had, but with a better defense and a better coach and a very workable schedule. I could be wrong but I dont ever recall in modern History Michigan going 500. I recall the year they were 6-5 and lost by a touchdown to #1 in the country BYU in the bowl game to finish 6-6, but thats it, and that was like 25 or so years ago. I think it's more likely that USC beats OSU by two touchdowns than it is Michigan go 6-6. Talent+Coaching = Success! You think it's ambitious for me to say 10 wins, i think your seriously low-balling us with 6. We will soon find out. Season only 40 days away.

You guys were 7-5 three years ago. That's just one game from 500. Do you think this team is as good as that team? I'm not trying to disrespect here. Yeah, I was foolin around this morning. You guys just have alot against you going into this year. I can understand you not thinking it will happen, but I don't think it would be farfetched to say 500.

Drinking a lot of hateraide I see. Don't believe the hype of the haters. Struggle to BREAK EVEN as suggested by some is utterly ridiculous.

"RR maybe a good coach, but he isn't a miracle worker. RR had one of the best QB's in the nation last year in Patrick White, who rushed for more than 1335 yards, that's 6.8 yards per carry. White was the Big East Offensive player of the year, the last two years. I doubt if freshman Steven Threet or walk-on Nick Sheriden have anywhere near Pat White's ability. White by the way in most college sporting polls, is being touted as a Heisman candidate and lst team All American at QB. It's not only the system, you have to have an outstanding QB to run it."

Just so you know, White was only a 2 star qb coming out of high school and was ranked the 53rd best qb in the country in 2004. Not the 53rd best player but the 53rd best qb. I would call that close to being a miracle worker. No one and I mean no one thought Pat White was anything and RR and his system made the player you talk about.

Spot on. Spot on my friend. That's exactly why I am scratching my head at those 10 win predictions. The most important position is obviously the qb. There is a huge learning curve from high school to college. As great as Pryor is suppose to be, I seriously doubt he will contribute much this year. Now how is someone who has been hyped way less than Pryor suppose to fair? I mean surely it can happen but the odds do not look good. The good news for UM is their defense should be awesome. So they need to have an extremely conservative offense at least the first half the season cause they can probably win many of the games with just 17 points. But if they have to rely on someone with no experience to win the games, they are in serious trouble. They need a qb who will not shoot himself in the foot. Just play conservative, and rely on the defense to win till you get some experience. Then by the OSU game, they should be ready to play by then. By then they will basically have a whole year under their belt.

If they had an experienced running back like Hart to hand off, that would make it a whole lot easier. So in my opinion, I really think they will struggle to break even this year.

10 wins attainable

The spread is designed to spread the field for running lanes and exploit speed. You do not have to have a running QB to run an effective spread offense, but it certainly helps. If you watch the U of M bowl game against Florida they ran a spread the entire game with Henne at qb. Threet was a 4 star qb in high school and was ranked in the top 10 at his position, it's not like the guy can't play. True Michigan lost basically their entire offense, but Michigan is loaded with talent. Rodriguez will tailor his offense to the strenghts of the young guys and they will be effective. The big 10 is not a great conference right now. Couple that with a defensive that is probably going to be dam good, and a schedule that has all of the top opponents at home except Ohio St and Penn St, including the Bowl game I think U of M can go 10-3. It may sound a bit ambitious to some, but I think these guys have a huge chip on there shoulder with everyone saying they will miss a bowl game this year. GO BLUE!
