Pistons Talk

Title number 17

You can't say the Celttics are ready as you suggested, they yet have to beat the Cavs once more.

Terrible Basketball

We are seeing terrible NBA basketball by everyone else except the Pistons. The Hornets, Spurs, Lakers, Jazz, Celtics, and Cavs are all playing terrible basketball. It really doesn't matter but it's just disappointing to watch the NBA playoffs and not see good basketball played at a higher level. We see bad players, terrible role players, and refs giving calls that are not calls combined with bad commentators and terrible shooting. I just hate watching everybody play except Detroit.

Hail Pistons! Let's just hope they win this thing because if they don't, the NBA will go down the toilet as a whole. Name another team that's entertaining to watch right now?

Title number 17

Rondo, Pierce, Garnett and company once again took care of business on their home home court the other night. However, that's just the first step and it doesn't do anything to clear up the questions about their record on the road.

The Celtics walked into the playoffs with the swagger of a team that had conquered the regular season and expected to do the same to the postseason. But something happened on the way to the Finals. At times you could describe the team's play as "soft," "timid," or even "lost." These are not terms you hear associated with Championship teams. They need to fix that fast if they want to go down in history for the right reasons.

It isn't supposed to come easy in the playoffs. The stakes are higher, the teams are better, and everyone is fighting for their proverbial lives. But if you look back, the teams that win the title typically take care of business. They have an alpha-dog feel about them. Look at the Spurs; they have that swagger of "we've been there before and we'll do it again." Look at your dreadful Pistons; when was the last time you saw them play with panic? That's not to say that those teams weren't tested. They just took care of business. LIKE THE CELTICS ARE ABOUT TO, DETROIT. Title number 17 is on the way. Are you ready? We Are.

HardwoodSilverSurfer Troll from the most racist city in America...Boston

Take all the cheap shots you want Gomer but keep this in mind. At least Detroit Cops didn't blow some woman away with a gas cannister during that celebration Boston had when they finally won a World Series after 800 years of utter failure.

Other facts about Boston:

-Did I mention it is historically and still the most racist city in America?

-Boston has the worst fans outside of Philly. They made life Hell for Ted Williams. They threatened to kill Jim Rice, and they also made sure Bill Russells mailbox was full of hate mail.

-The worst, rudest and stupidest drivers in the free world. Boston citizens are also well known for treating out of towner's like feces.

-For all the romance of Fenway, it is in a rat infested filthy area.

-Boston has serious Johnson Envy. It likes to think it is New York, but comes up short by 9 inches.

-The Dig, perhaps the biggest municipal boondoggle and corrupt project ever.-

-Dan Shaughnessy. One of the many negative, hateful, and sub-par sportswriters in any city.

-Boston has had a 34% increase in violent crimes this decade. Much of which take place in its schools where there is an epidemic of gang violence. More alrming is the fact that 2/3 of the muders are unsolved.

-Boston has a notoriously corrupt police department and perhaps the most corrupt unions in America.

While the city of Detroit has worse crime, I wouldn't brag if I were from Boston. The crime there is on the rise and not that far behind Detroit. In a recent survey of "Best places to live", Detroit's suburbs had 3 times as many placements in the top 200 than Boston had. I get a kick when trolls from places like Orlando and Boston come in here and act like they live in Utopia when in fact their towns are no better and in many cases, worse.

This is the town that Ted Williams refused to tip his hat to when he hit that home run in his last at bat.

He even refused the curtain call. He was even fined once for spitting on fans. Considering that post by the idiot from Boston, I can see why. Go Stones!

bench production

just wanted to run some numbers off for you guys since we have a few day's before the Conference Finals start.

1. Sixers/Pistons

Detroit's bench averaged 19.2 ppg in the first series. With a total of 116 points for the whole series.

2. Magic/ Pistons

Detroits bench averaged 11.8 ppg in the second series. With a total of 59 points for the whole series.

I think the reason for the drastic reduction point wise in the Orlando series is because Stuckey became a starter, which means his 7.6 ppg coming off the bench was now being counted towards starter minutes. (Stuckey by the way came in second in ppg behind Maxiells 7.9 ppg)

Regardless, this team will need more production from it's bench to win the title and not only point wise., The Orlando series was almost a reflection of the 2006 season. With Flip seemingly getting nervous and overplaying his starters. There was a notable acception with Hunter coming in and playing a standout game in game 4.

Key Bench Points.

1. Let Afflalo sub for Prince, Afflalo wont hurt a team and his perimeter defense is prob the best on the team. I'm wondering how long Prince can play at the level he's playing at, which by the way happens to be superb.

2.Depends on who we play in the CF's, if we face the C's play Afflalo backup minutes @ the 2, and @ small forward.was outstanding during the regular season. Stuckey should dominate his matchup with Sam Cassel( has to be very wary of Slippery Sam's ability to hit the clutch 3 ball though) his strenth and athletisim should give Bostons guards fits. Detroit should be very causious of James Posey's ability to defend and hit the clutch 3 ball.

If Boston insert's "Big Baby" then we counter with Amir, girth vs. Hop's and speed.

If we play the Cav's, use Amir's length to play soft against LBJ's power drives and let Amir bother him with his length. Stuckey should dominate his matchup with Daniel"boobie" Gibson.

Cant wait till the party starts

GO PISTONS !!!!

Pistons

I thought it was the Knicks and I remember the Pistons

blew the Bulls out in that showdown game. I don't remember

the 1st round series. Sometimes the memory lane game doesn't

jog so well. Perhaps the winner will be similar to the

Pistons/Cavs survivor in 2006--a little loss in the

edge department. Ah well, 2008--make it or break it time

for the Pistons.

Thu. 05/15/08 10:14 PM

You're a little early, hardwood...

... Your boys haven't qualified to play the 'Stones, yet. Don't count your chickens before LeBron hatches an egg that he puts on KGs head by postrizing him!!

Surfer

Glad to see you've been keeping up with the Pistons, even if it's been through Evil Empire lenses. Hadn't realized the Celtics were racking up the terrific regular season record just because they needed homecourt advantage in the playoffs. One dose of realism: don't hang your hopes on Rondo. Billups has plenty of detractors around these parts but he's up to that particular job.

SOMEBODY GUARD RIP HAMILTON

The Celtics will face off against the reigning douchebags in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons, next week. Pistons fans are putting off their usual nightly activity- robbing people at knifepoint- just to watch these games. Unfortunately for them, the 1st games will be played in Boston so they can't throw stuff at the players and embarrass the living hell out of the league again.

While the Celtics have Sam Cassell, it's all even because the Pistons probably won't suit up newly exhumed Theo Ratliff. The fact that Theo Ratliff still plays basketball was news to many, but remember that this is the team that took some weirdo from Europe over Melo, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and about 35 other much better players.... then tried to argue that it was a good move even when they traded him for Kelvin Cato. The Kelvin Cato era was slightly less productive than the Darko era- he played in 4 games for the Pistons. But, the gaping whole he left behind has been filled by Theo Ratliff, who has been healthy enough this season to play in 20% of his team's games this year, which means he is the healthiest he has been since Allen Iverson first put the cornrows in. So, look out, world! Some would say that Ratliff is a risk because his spinal column is held together with scotch tape, Elmer's glue, and thumb tacks, but then again, the Pistons had the wisdom and foresight to sign Nazr Mohammed to a five year deal so you just have to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Here's my prediction for this series: Rondo plays like a maniac because he knows that no matter what anyone tells Shira Springer or those pansies at Celticsblog- Sam Cassell is gunning for his job. Chauncey's enormous 85-pound head is going to be spinning as Rondo blows by him time after time. This game is going to have extreme intensity, and I see the Celtics pulling it out in a close one. The Pistons are a very good team that plays every high-level opponent very tough, so the C's have to stay vigilant right until the final horn. Oh, and Doc? If the Pistons hold for the last shot, HAVE SOMEBODY GUARD RIP HAMILTON!!! That still pisses me off. Just thinking of that debacle makes me inclined to change my prediction........

Trivia q by powers...

Pistons

As for the Pistons, this year is a different team.

They don't have Wallace and like losing Grant Hill

the franchise did not collapse and it was a blessing

in disguise that the Pistons didn't throw him big

money. They also added Stuckey, Affalo, Maxiell and

Amir are a year more experienced, Hayes was picked

up, and Ratliff was a late addition. I like the

way the Pistons responded to the Sixers and Magic.

They did it in a variety of ways. Most of all I am

saying it appears the focus and the determination

is there. If they win the championship that is

awesome! If they don't they will just have to re-evaluate

their team and keep trying to build toward that

championship. I think the Pistons should have won in 1988.

Many say they were fortunate in 1989 that Magic and

Scott got hurt---I think it just made things easier,

the Pistons would have probably won in 6. Of course they

won in 1990 as well. Does anybody remember who they beat

to get there?

Thu. 05/15/08 09:11 PM

Cavs or Celts

whoever wins that series.....we are ready.

ALL Teams that get this far into the postseason.....are good, damn good!!...none are chopped liver.

keep that in mind.....

I respect ALL teams who are vying for the playoffs.....bar none.
