Could we do any worse than we're doing now?
And Mr. Cash- No, Detroit fans don't have that reputation. Not even close.

Wonder what Barry Sanders,Ted Lindsey,Tramell,Whitaker,Willie Horton,Hitman Hearns,Probie,Harold Snepts,Joe Louis or Rick Mahorn think of Detroit fans and how they have been treated over the years.
Grilli
Five years in the majors, five inconsistent seasons.
5.20 ERA with the Tigers, and many blown games.
Good luck in Colorado. Hope he likes how they cook the balls for him there.
I'll take Cruceta, Dolsi, or Mr. Anonymous from Toledo.
Grilli
So he's doing well for a team that's 10 games behind. Doesn't exactly sound like a pressure cooker situation. We all know that he does well in non pressure situations. If the Rockies get back into the race and he does well then good for him. But I doubt that we'll ever see that happen.

Philadelphia the City of Brotherly Love throws snowballs at Santa Claus and Detroit fans are the viscious ones.
Porcello
Anybody trades him,they get fired.

Cash 25- This is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on this board. Because were viscous fans Grilli pitched horrible at Comerica? Welcome to the big leagues Jason. If he pitched that way in Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park they would have him hanging from a street light outside the stadium.
It doesn't suprise me that he's pitching well- he's probably working with a good pitching coach. He always had good stuff, he didn't know how to use it.
Jason Grilli dug his own grave here, actually he didn't do it alone, JL helped him. Cheers are earned not deserved I dont care whose team you play for.

And I wonder what someone like Al Kaline,Gordie Howe,Stevie Y,Zeke Thomas,Joe D or Mark Fidrych think of the fans here and how have they been treated by Detroit Fans over the years? Bet they say they have been treated pretty damn good.
Matt Holliday/Rick Porcello
"Rockies Could Trade Holliday
In Ken Rosenthal's latest column, he sees Matt Holliday as a prime candidate to be traded this summer. Rosenthal notes that the Rockies are already ten games back and have very little chance of signing Holliday to an extension. Holliday is signed through '09 with $13MM due next season.
Previously, Rosenthal speculated that the Rockies might be willing to go to six years and $96MM to keep last year's NL MVP runner-up. However, all we know of Holliday's demands are that he wants more than a four-year deal. Rosenthal sees the Indians, Cardinals, Yankees, A's, Tigers, Blue Jays, Mariners, and Mets as potential suitors. This should provide an interesting new storyline for July"
It would cost Porcello and Luis Marte. Would you do it? I would not.

And how many QB's or Goalies do you think have been run out of town over the years. In Detroit the favorite player is alway's the backup, that is untill the backup comes in and does worse than the starter then everyone ask's why the hell did we make a change in the first place. Detroit fan's have alway's been a tough and vocal crowd, just ask Ducky Medwick from the Cardinals or ask Dave Winfield what he thought of the Bleacher Creatures at Tiger Stadium. But one should remember that Detroit has had over 100 yrs of baseball,75+ yrs of Football and Hockey and 50 yrs of B-Ball played so it's not like we don't know sports around here.

Where's Moe
What happened to Moe? Loved his comments and insight!
I was just a lurker and really enjoyed the minor league reports. He gave a glimpse of hope in these troublesome times.
MInors
I just love the excitability that those young players have.
It's kinda like watching college vs. pro basketball. Pro basketball is like the WWF. Fake! The college players
are much hungrier.

In case nobody has noticed, in 5 games with Colorado, Jason Grilli has a 2.35 ERA with 9 strikeouts in 7.2 innings. Overall, counting his games in Detroit -- where Tigers "fans" booed him -- his ERA is now 2.95 in 21.0 innings, of which he has allowed just 2 earned runs in his last 11 outings, over 19.0 innings.
Here are some of the things being said about Grilli on Rockies' boards: www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-rockies&tid=11434
1. "Grilli seems to be a great pickup. I was skeptical at first, given his reputation in Detroit...but this guy has been solid thus far. I'm very impressed, he can really buckle down and fire when he needs to. I have seen him work out of numerous jams so far."
2. "Agreed. I don't get premonitions of doom whenever he comes in. Frankly, I'm not sure why everyone in Detroit is so down on him. His stuff looks good and he appears to have some control."
3. "I had a strong feeling he would work out well in Colorado -- look at his home/road splits when he was playing for Detroit.. It's something like 1.5 ERA road, 6.00 ERA at home. This had much to do with the vicious fans in Detroit I think... I don't know about you all but I would never, ever, boo a pitcher who plays for my own freaking team at home. The fact that he pitched better on the road really speaks volumes about the nature of your 'typical' Tiger fan......"
The reason why I'm posting this is to show you the reputation that Tigers "fans" have around the league. Notice that blogger No. 3 calls Tigers fans "vicious." I couldn't agree with him more. Basically, it was Detroit's "vicious fans" -- many of which are regularly on this board -- that caused Jason Grilli to pitch poorly at home, and basically drove him out of town. And these same vicious fans are doing the same with other players. Which is why Detroit has the reputation around the league as having some of the very WORST fans in all of baseball. Like it or not, that's the rep that Tigers fans are earning.

True, however there are two things Cabrera doesn't have that Larish does.
The ability and attitude to learn how to play first base and a smaller gut.
