TODD JONES KNOWS THE DEAL
I'm down in Lakeland for a few days to watch the Tigers. To me, the upcoming season all comes down to closer Todd Jones. At first, when I went to him with that idea, he was defensive. ``You'll gonna pin it on me early,'' Jones barked. Yes. Yes. Yes. Jones has to be just as good, if not better, than he has been the last two seasons (75 saves). If Jones fails and can't deliver, there will be a lot of unhappy Tiger fans. GM Dave Dombrowski will be another one fans won't be happy with because he didn't do a good job to bolster his bullpen. Championships are won with pitching and defense -- not bats. BIG BEN HAPPY WITH DEAL TO CAVS
Ben Wallace is happy about his trade from Chicago to Cleveland. He told this reporter Thursday night in a game of text. And with good reason. Chicago just wasn't going to work out for him in the long run. That was obvious. It wasn't long ago that Bulls' management thought he was the missing piece en route to a championship. But just a year and a half into a four-year, $60-million deal, the Bulls couldn't wait to get rid of Big Ben. Only time will tell if it works out with LeBron and the Cavs. Wallace, 4sho, is excited about playing with James. Still, deep down, Ben must be wondering what he's doing in a third uniform in less than two seasons. WOW! Big Ben never should have left Detroit. He knows that now. This was the perfect place for him. This is where he became a factor in the NBA, this is where he won a championship. Best of luck, Ben. His team will need it to get past the Pistons this time in the postseason.
