Ban bullets , problems solved , period !
As the saying goes , it's those little round hard things called bullets that actually does the damage .
Nobody has the guts to just come right out and ban bullets .
All those gun lovers can have as many guns as they want !!
Most of those gun lovers have them for show and fewer of them actually fire them for entertainment .
For those who use their guns to HARVEST (robbery)will find guns to be useless when there is no bullets in them !!
The second admendment gives rights to gun ownership , it says NOTHING about government regulating the ammo !
This would easily pass the Supreme Court constitutionality
test . If anything , states can pass their own bans on ammo and gun violence problem would be a thing of the past .
Anybody out there disagree ?
Think about that when somebody is harvesting (stealing) your car at gun point .

Is U of M awash with cash ?
Hello ,
I'm curious about the financial health of University of Michigan .
I've seen recently on my local TV news station that U of M is again raising it's tuition for all it's students .
A few days later , this same news station reports that U of M was deeply involved with recruiting a replacement coach from a competing college .
This story went on to explain this new coach had an contract that he was obligated to follow but wanted to leave for the position at U of M . This individual was required to pay a substantial sum of money for the privilege to leave . It was reported U of M had(volunteered)to pay a hefty portion of this severance money to the tune of several million dollars .
What is extremely disturbing to me , is the announcment that tuition is being raised and few days later the college announces it made a multi-million deal to hire another sports entertainment coach for their athletic department .
Granted it has been accepted knowledge the athletic dept. must be self sustaining , my beef is this university will spend millions to hire an individual whose actual working schedule is only a few months out of the year but yet does not put forth the same effort when staffing the rest of the campus with top notch educators whom will be there year round AND their work is applied directly towards students credits and degrees .
THERE IS NO COLLEGE DEGREES FOR KICKING , HITTING OR THROWING A STUPID BALL .
A coach is worth more than a teacher ? WHY ?
On top of all that , U of M is also investing millions to renovate the stadium , WHY ???
Why are my tax dollars subsidizing this entertainment business a.k.a University of Michigan ??
U of M also knuckled under pressure to make this new stadium "disabled" friendly .
More money was spent to fight this lawsuit and more money is spent to make the changes on the fly , WHY ???? U of M stated it needs to raise tuition , WHY ???
Is ANY sporting event regarded as entertainment ??
If not , explain to me what it is (from a spectator point of view) .
Is U of M in the education business or are they in the entertainment business ???
I really wish you and your resources would look into this and expose the hypocrisy U of M exhibits by investing millions of dollars into a athletic program that contributes absolutely NOTHING towards a college degree but yet shows no matching effort to substantially improve the very core of its' existence , in other words produce more educated students , not college drop out athletes .
Thanks for taking the time to read this . I hope to see this subject soon

VW
Sorry for the way you feel entitled there MrX, after watching the unions hold the proverbial gun to the heads of the automakers and seeing first hand how unions protect lazy workers and are giant leeches on owners, can you really blame VW for coming down here to Tennessee. Michigan and its residents of which i have many in my family is going in the wrong direction with its big city mayors and Governor putting the royal screwing to each of you. So come on bring your overpriced work force here and compete for a job on the open market, if your skills and talents are as good as you say then you should have no problem finding employment. On the other hand just stay there, we have way too many union democrats here already so stay there and enjoy the long cold winters while your boats are locked up in the garage mine gets used year round please stay there and leave these jobs to the folks here in the great state of Tennessee
Volkswagon going south
Yep! Volkswagon isn't building a plant in Michigan. It also isn't building a plant in Minnisota, Wisconsin, or Iowa! Volkswagon located in a southern state, with much milder winters. You seem to have only one reason for anything negative - Democrats and unions. When I had over 2 feet of snow in my yard for a month this winter, I felt pretty negative. But you probably figure the snow is Grandholm's fault. I suppose all golfer's going to Myrtle beach in the winter is a union issue? And the blizzard that dropped a foot of snow on us was caused by those dern Democrats? If lightning hits your house, is it Kwames fault? ( ok, might give ya that!!! )
Try to have a nice day!
VW
Our labor force in Michigan is much more experienced and hardworking. VW will get what they're paying for. We should be blaming our worthless Gov. for not rolling out the red carpet. We desperately need these kinds of jobs here and it's her policy that's killing us.
This has happened too many times. We need to figure something out quick. If our U.S. made automobiles are going to continue to lose market share each year, we need to at least encourage the foreign car company to come here and use our unemployed workforce. But we're seeing a different trend. The jobs are going somewhere else and so are the people. Eventually, the whole state is going to look like Flint and who are we going to blame?
At least we got whirlpool to come here and give us 200 jobs....whatever. Come on J Gram.
VW
Based on the last 75 years or so of local history, why would an auto manufacturere want to locate in Michigan? To fight a union? To pay high taxes? Higher utilities? For higher labor costs and services?
I'd go far away. VW is not oblivious to these facts and many other factors.
I agree, we never had a chance, nor should we have. Shame on us.
Mich. never had a chance for VW
I'd like to know what the process is to change to a right- to-work state. I think it's is time for people to begin thinking about bringing good jobs/companies to the state whether union or not.
At this point in our state we cannot afford to live in the past at the expense of our future.
MIch Never Had A Chance
Add a governor who knows and appreciates business (versus one who seems to be totally clueless when it comes to business climate) and a state whose job climate and attitude toward business is ten times better than the State of Michigan. And those other things you mentioned.
Hey, it was Governor Scamholm who told you all she'd blow you away in five years. The winds are blowing alright Jenny, and they're taking most of our jobs with them!
A note for you Barack Obama supporters - more socialism isn't going to create jobs.
Gun Rights
To MJT1:
My mistake on the D.C. handgun law. When I read the article about the decision, they talked about concealed handguns. My point still stands. You did nothing to refute any of my other points. Arms are arms. The constitution does not make a distinction on what constitutes "arms". Why is it ok to ban non-lethal weapons like tazers? Why can I not purchase a fully automatic weapon? Why not granades? I disagreed with the D.C. law and don't understand how it has stood for as long as it has. What I get sick of hearing is those of you misguided folks supposedly on the right who think that Democrats want to take away your right to bear arms. They most certainly do not.
Using your thinking about "activist" judges, would you agree it was activist judges that gave rights to blacks and women? Was it activist judges who gave them the right to vote? You didn't seem to complain about activist judges in the 2000 election, yet you wanted them to be activist in the Terry Schiavo and Elian Gonzalez cases. You only chose to complain when the rulings are against your own interpretation of the Constitution.
Big 3
When you say Gore would put the Big 3 out of business, aren't they doing a good job of that all on their own? GM's market valuation now ranks 21st among global auto manufacturers. It's not in anyone's big 3 any more.
Gore has spent the past several years focused on alternative energy. If the big 3 had done that, they might still be ahead of Toyota instead of eating its dust.
Challenging the auto makers isn't speaking "truth to power". It's telling some fat, sick, government-protected organizations to shape up and do a better job for the rest of the country.
Saw your other sob piece on Tennessee getting the VW plant. If the UAW is going to keep making Michigan uncompetitive, the least it could do is get firmly behind alternative energy as well.
Less sobbing, more action, self-sacrifice and foresight!
gun rights and the 4th amendment etc....
The reason we have judges is to interpret law. Without the need for interpretation, there would be no need for judges. We are a nation of laws, but also of people. And people see things differently - within families, within marriages, and within legislative bodies.
Our history as a nation is full of cases where judges ruled against the constitutional freedoms of blacks, women, and native Americans. This seems unthinkable today, but was the case for over half of our nation's life. These past judges were not corrupt or even immoral - they were simply a product of their times - and usually reflecting the public's attitudes.
Be wary of the term "activist judges", used so frenquently by the right. It's a relative term, and depends on one's point of view. The term was coined in the civil rights movement of the 1960's. It was commonly used by southern lawmakers who were frustrated by "activist" federal judges that ruled as unconstitutional the many Jim Crow laws of the southern states.
To Mr. Ben Bernanke
To our federal reserve chairman Ben Bernanke
Dear Ben,
I truly do not envy your position. The chickens from 8 years of republican trade policy are coming home to roust all at once. From outsourcing millions and millions of our jobs and income to foreign countries, our dollar will be seen around the world as not worth the paper it is printed on. While at home here, dollars are increasingly scarce from all our industry and income going overseas. You must now fight international dollar inflation and domestic deflation both at the same time. My advice is to fight domestic deflation as the worst problem. It will eventually cause the United States to rebuild American industry as imports coming from overseas become too expensive. You are fully aware that if we wait too long to fight domestic deflation, another Great Depression will be coming. We need your helicopter money drops now, not when our homes lose fifty percent of their value. What ever you choose, eventually the international dollar will collapse due to the many years of republican free trade fiasco.
FDR
gun rights and the 4th amendment etc....
Sir,
You chide the author of the article for not knowing what the constitution says and then quote the 4th amendment as protecting the right to privacy and the right to an abortion. Here are the actual words of the 4th amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Now, maybe a Supreme Court justice can infer these rights you listed from the words above, but no reasonable reading of them leads to either "right" The real threat to our freedom is not Democrats, Republicans, or terrorists, it is activist judges who justify whatever policy they want (liberal or conservative) by ridiculous readings of the text.
Gun Rights
There are several problems with the blogs that were posted before mine that smack of intellectual dishonesty or not really knowing what your talking about. 1) for JQcitizen it is not a matter of right vs left on the court it is a matter of reading the Constitution and believing what it actually says it what it means, without having to put an ideological spin on it. 2) VM, even if Roe vs Wade was overturned it would not outlaw abortion (which shows your level of understanding) it would just throw it back to the states (where it belongs) to regulate the practice which means that the people would get to vote, if that isn't pro choice I don't know what is. 3) dkmi, yes the Constitution was written in the 1700s, so under your logic, because we did not have the internet or t.v or radio we need to interpret the Constitution to change the first amendment. Also, you need to do your home work because the D.C. law was against having a handgun in your own HOME. But the bottom line is that you want to change the constitution there is a way to do that, but because most of these liberal Ideas would never pass the requirement, so they rely on activist judges to get what they cant get through the ballot box. The only people who want to restrict freedom in this nation are the liberal establishment and their followers who have the arrogance to think that they know what is best for the rest of the dumb un-enlighted masses.
TAX State
Michigan's government seems to exist for one purpose, to take your money. They raise taxes despite a slumping economy, despite record unemployment, despite a decreased demand for their "services", despite a huge increase in gasoline taxes, despite Michigan's disproportionate contribution to government waste/pensions/salaries.
Now I'm sure there must be someone, I don't know who, who is getting a good deal out of the state of this State, but we sure need a new direction, big time. Cut costs now, and start internally.
