I am actually not registered to any party and vote the person not the party.
Dissent within parties is fine. That is why they have conventions and set platforms.
The point of the reply to someone who calls themselves a party delegate but votes for the other party is that maybe they have not really pickd the right party.
I don't see how someone can be in a party that is based on limited government and low taxes can find what they are looking for by voting democrat.
Your reply didn't help me see how a Paul supporter could find what they are looking for in Obama.
Let's be honest. 97% of the black population will vote for Obama JUST because he is black. While there are many things wrong with that, it IS there vote, and they can vote for anyone, for any reason. I just don't think it anyone should be fooled into thinking that much more than the man's skin color was a deciding factor in this race. Well, news for the hood. Not much will actually change. You are going to have to get up off the porch and stoop, and go find a job. The Obama handouts will be small and infrequent. So enjoy the night and weeks to follow. Then you will realize that not much has changed, and you are still out of work, living in Detroit, uneducated, and miserable. HINT: Go out and get two jobs like me, and you could be Joe the plumber, times 2. That's where I am at. No handouts. No freebees. Just hard, honest work. Hope some of you try it.

I voted for Obama, but lets not forget if we want change it needs to start from all the people. He is not black, he is BLACK & WHITE. Lets not get race in the way of helping America move in the right direction.

Hi, my name is Keiara and I would like to make a suggestion about our raditional way of electing candidates.One way to fix the crowds in public voting areas is to create a way that you can text your vote to a certain number and to make things accurate make a special name or something to maje things convienient. Another way to make voting easier is to make an online website for voting ballots to be downloaded by voters and filled out online and to send them to the ballot counters. These are a few ways to stop all the catastrophe at the polls.

Dear "Ohmbo", thanks for attacking every Republican who doesn't share your belief in blindly following the party. Good thing some of us think for ourselves, else the GOP would be even worse off than it is.
Our party has blown it in the last several years and doesn't deserve the support of the vast numbers of lifelong Republicans who choose not to follow the neocon way. I and many like me are fed up with this extreme right wing thinking dominating our party and are changing it the only way we know how - by voting for (soon to be) President Obama.
The neocons have to go. We have to send a message.
Ms. Nicholson - I for one am thrilled you are representing the voice of dissent within the party. We need more TRUE mavericks like yourself to get involved and change things from the inside. Thank you for your service to party and country.

Republican votes for Obama
You have missed the point of what being a Republican is all about. The difference is how big you want Government to be. You contradict yourself in expressing strong will and independence and then want the government to help. The government can not help and stay out of your business. As far as your mother having to take care of three little ones she should have you. Making the leap from Paul to Obama is quite a gap to cover. It sounds like you were a one issue person to begin with. This is also a contradiction of Paul's isolationist views and your hope that we try to better people you will never meet. I suggest you do some reading of the Constitution and other writings of the founding fathers and then decide which party you will align yourself with. Step down from your seat and let and let someone who really supports the party fill that role.
Voter ID
One small hiccup at Rochester Hills City Hall Precinct this morning. A Poll worker was helpfully reminding people in line to have their photo ID ready, but then mistakenly added, "or we will have to turn you away."
I alerted the precinct supervisor before leaving and asked which poll worker had said this, which I told him. The supervisor apologetically said he "would take care of it."
Let this be an example of how easy it is to confuse voters on such a simple requirement.
Even the banner graphic on the front page of detnews.com is incorrect. Among the voting tips, it says "Photo I.D. card required to vote." Photo I.D. cards are requested but not required. A voter without an I.D. card may sign an affidavit to verify their identity at the poll.
If anyone at The News reads this, please ask an editor to correct this incorrect statement on the home page.
