Dawud Walid reference

Mr. Trowbridge,

Do you realize that the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), for whom Mr. Walid works so diligently, has been exposed as a supporter of terrorist groups in the Middle East? Federal prosecutors just last week reaffirmed that in court.

By calling Mr. Walid a spokesman for the Muslim community, and allowing his comments such space in your Detroit News writings, you are providing him with dangerous authority and reach. Please stop using Mr. Walid for any commentary on any issue. Everything the man says is propaganda meant to harm America in some way.

Cover Story

Everyone should remember that the US Supreme Court has given Senator Obama, like everyone else, the right to burn the US flag.

The cover just shows him exercising that right.

Michigan Campaign

Question: What has Ms Stabenow done for Michigan while she has been in office??

Michigan has one of the highest income tax rates in the US

Michigan is in the top 5 of gas tax

Michigan has one of the highest in unemployment rates (I should know I was unemployed for several months)

Michigan auto industry is in the tank

So, again I ask where is Ms Stabenow?

For every dollar that is stolen from me that is called call "taxation" or wealth distribution and sent to Washington - What am I getting for that dollar?

I ask - Where is Ms Stabenow?

Hmmmm...with the trouble that her husband Tom may be in, maybe he should be asking that question too.

Poll Watch

A numerical analysis of the Quinnipiac University poll information reveals that the methods do NOT follow the generally accepted methods for participant selection.

This is generally the result when the pollsters allow personal interests or bias to infilgtrate their methods, whether intentional or unintentional.

Be careful with the results of polling from this apparently-biased organization.

Levin leads by 20 points

Levin leads? He's useless and on of the reasons for the slumping economy in Michigan and the high cost of gas. HE's been in office too long and is out of touch with the public but in touch with the lobbyists.

BLUE SHIFT

Perhaps a close examination of the raw data has another interpretation - more Democrats are becoming more conservative as they understand the impacts of liberalism.

Riegle's pinion

Mr. T.

Don Riegle is a worthless scalawag. You write a good column and should not quote this worthless, bought-and-paid for political hack. He made his money in Washington (went there with 10 grand, left with 10 mil. Commodity futures?) and managed to avoid indictment, but did not earn the role of elder statesman. Please consider thoughtful, intelligent politicians in the future, rather than bringing any chance for Riegle to rehabilitate the reputation he destroyed with his own greed and malicious practices.

Kindly,

Brian Reilly

voter's rights

Thank you, Kelinfair, for your post. My husband and I keep hearing on the news that it's the democrats own fault for not being counted in the primaries.Could someone please tell us the specific names of our "democratic representatives" so that we could write to them in order to insure that this kind of debacle never happens again. Please clue us in. My husband was privileged to hear both John F.Kennedy and his brother, Robert F.Kennedy, speak publically in his hometown,(MI.) and their speeches stressed the importance of human rights, emphasizing the power of everyman's "right to vote."Apparently, the democratic party has disavowed the legacy of our political champions and negated our individual "voter's rights" in Michigan and Florida. Now, my disillusioned husband says he'll stay home Nov.4th, and not vote at all for the first time in his life. Hopefully, our party can unify soon, before it loses another party-faithful to invisiblity.

McCain 's Lobbyist Campaign

Mr Trowbridge,

If you were really non-partisan, you would be running with this all over the place. McCain has so many lobbyists working his campaign, the contracts for their firms are probably already sitting in a safe somewhere. Remember when McCain ran out of money?? Where did his new donors come from, hmmmmmm? Wasn't it Joe Liberman that all of a sudden was by McCains side, wasn't it Liberman on his trip to the MiddleEast? I would be looking into to all these connections and McCains flip flop on the tax cuts being permenant....

Democratic Delegates

We hear from Sen. Obama that the rules must be followed.

There are rules besides the one saying that the state must conduct the primary after Iowa and New Hampshire.

Another rule states that any candidate receiving less than 15% cannot receive any delegates. Sen. Obama received less than 15% and therefore cannot legally receive any of the Michigan delegates. It is no wonder that he does not want to seat any legitimate Michigan delegates determined by the rules.

Perhaps Michigan should determine who will represent the Democrats on the 2008 general election ballots by judicial action rather than by rigged convention.

Threading in forums

We are working on adding threading to the forums. Clicking on the headline of a post will now get you related posts in a few different ways.

- If the post was sent to us in response to an article, clicking on that post's headline will retrieve all comments on that article, and clicking on the "See related article" link will send you to the article itself.

- If the comment was submitted in response to a cybersurvey, clicking on the headline will take you to the cybersurvey and its related comments.

- If you click on the headline of a forum post that was simply posted in the forum, you will get all posts with that same headline.

If you want to add a comment to a thread in the forum, use the same headline as the post to which you want to respond.

If you find a problem, please tell us, and thanks in advance for your patience as we work to improve the forums for you.
