The Funny Video and the State of The City Address
I truely applaud Diana McNary for standing your ground with Mayor Kilpatrick. It simply leaves me in bewilderment each time he tries to devert the peoples mind set away from his perjury case and incompetence as a Mayor. I just don't know how you people put up with Mayor Kilpatrick. Just the expression alone that comes over his face when he is about to be put on the spot is worth the cost of a movie. When I heard he was going to make his state of the city address; me and my friends purchased five buckets of popcorn and three Big 64 oz bottles of Pepsi. Diana, we entitled his State of the City Address as "The Mayor-Mack Playa Comedy Show" and he didn't let us down one bet. The last ten minutes of the speech was a classic Peter Faulk (Columbo), Oh yah, and here is the N-Word Bomb. All of my friends that came by that night were Black African Americans; and all of our jaws dropped to the floor as Mayor "Kill Package" delivered his irresponsible remarks. We were totally embarrassed for every family in Detroit that had to hear his remarks, and we don't even live in your city. We thought that since Govenor Eliot Spitzer stepped down that he would possiblly bow out gracefully. WRONG!!! I can be reached at www.myspace.com/trscott003
Thanks for reading and commenting, and especially, thanks for those videos! Keep 'em coming! I hesitated to post anything Kwame related in this blog, since the politics forums are blowing up over that whole circus. But, like I said, it's so ridiculous it's comedy gold.
I actually could have attended the speech in person, but I watched it from the comfort of my corner bar with a diverse group of friends - all of whom were equally flabbergasted.
Again, thanks for keeping us in stitches, and stay tuned. It ain't over yet.

Entertainment blog?
Oh No! the Muggs are gone?! What are you going to write about now? I do not understand your blog really but it is part of the problem with Detroit and our lack of exposure and value for arts and culture. You are an 'out and about in Detroit' blog but it appears you mostly watch TV and go to the bar. Since several people are already talking about the "muggs" and their appearance on what is basically a glorified 'gong show', why don't you actually go 'out and about' and write about something entertaining in the area.[besides some other band or some bar] How about a visit to a gallery? or a museum? Why not take in some theatre? There are already people blogging about the music scene and TV aren't there? There has been more press in the past weeks about this second rate band than there has been about the DSO or the DIA all year! Help the people of your generation and actually go 'out and about' and see some of the cultural offerings of our area.

Gene Simmons coming under fire for copyright violation
Monday, April 30, 2007 PHOTOGRAPHER TO FILE COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT ON GENE SIMMONS Gene Simmons of the rock band KISS facing another lawsuit... Press Release - 07:46:30 - Associate Press Newswire KISS bassist GENE SIMMONS has been notified he's violated another photographers copyrights. Edward Przydzial of Beverly Hills states; "Mr. Simmons has stolen and used/abused my copyrights as far back as 1997 when they returned to the classic make-up era of the 70's... He has used my images on merchandise magazines, books, kisstory, metal edge magazine kiss specials and more. He has made no attempt to pay me or request usage in the proper protocol." Przydzial from East Detroit states that "Simmons' knows full well he's violating my copyrights." And has been in contact with Przydzial through Bill Randolph's office in New York. Przydzial also claims that during his last dealings with Mr. Simmons, he made it clear that he would continue to use any photographs he chooses, if they are images of KISS or of any member of KISS, Simmons' thinks he can legally do this. Fact is, he cannot and copyright laws say it takes 75 years before a copyright runs out. Mr. Simmons is not in the clear. Przydzial photographed the band from the years 1975 to 1983. He claims a loss value of more then a million dollars in black & white images and color slides. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons along with FBI agents in tow confiscate costumes and collectables from one of the many KISS conventions put on by fans of the rock band. Federal agents also confiscated costumes from a man named Joe Marshall of Detroit at the very same convention. Federal agents took nearly 12,000 images of KISS between those years from Przydzial. Przydzial also claims his photos have been published copyrighted under "The KISS Company" without his permission. He states that Fin Costello's name was put on one of his photos in the book "Behind The Mask" published by Warner Books, he also states the transcripts for that book were confiscated from "The Kiss Museum News" fan club that Edward ran edited and published. He says a man named Curt Gooch used an image of his in the KISS Touring History Book and Mr. Gooch put his own name on it, instead of Edwards. "Mr. Simmons' lied to federal agents about the truth of ownership. Simmons actually claimed he was "The KISS Museum" on the document he signed. Stealing said images as federal agents hand over Przydzial's copyrighted photographs collection. And possible money changing hands or some other "sealed file" agreement." "Right now I'm compiling and have been since '97. I've got a huge box of KISS stuff with my images from calendars to lunch boxes. Lot's of KISS merchandise have my photos on it." Sony Signatures has also been named as part of the suit if Przydzial decides to pursue this further. Associate Press Corp.

Welcome Diana McNany to the Blues circuit. It is nice to finally get a fresh perspective here. Hope that you will be around for a long time.
Attic Bar +
The Attic is notorious for not paying any money. They must have been playing for the door. Years ago when the Musicians Union was stronger, you couldn't play a room unless you were in the union....and got paid union scale....which is way over $50.00 for a side man. It is too bad that there aren't strong union reps. anymore to make sure that these guys are in the union and making union scale. What makes me laugh are these rooms that advertise for bands to come and audition. These rooms get a whole night of free entertainment....as well as the ones who have a "battle of the bands" in their place. More free entertainment. Sometimes you are lucky if you make $25.00 a night. It's just not worth it to be a blues or rock musician in Detroit.

When I saw the term "wallpaper," I took it literally! I attended and graduated from Clarkston Sr. High in the early 80's, and remember the mural of Bob Seger painted on the lockers in the front hall! Now *that* would be a photo I'd love to see, for old times sake.
Weblog
Diana, that photo of a clean-cut Seger made me long for calmer times. In 1969, at age 12, I saw Ted Nugent play in the gymnasium of a Dearborn Hgts high school(Crestwood). He made a point of being noticed--he was so loud I think my hearing was damaged, and he jumped around onstage in an Indian headdress and loincloth. Who knew fame was just around the corner for the Motor City Madman? What a contrast to the photo of Bob Seger taken about the same time. Seger was a gentleman then and now, and Nugent is still a maniac.

That's a a common argumentative tactic from someone who refuses to debate the merits of a position. Discredit the messenger and ignore the message. Shall I take your statement that "if I haven't walked in someone's shoes I can't comment" to its logical conclusion? 1. You can't comment on the military unless you have been in the military (which leads to the obvious conclusion that civilians should not control the military since they are not fit to judge). 2. You can't criticize a president unless you have been a president (or insert any political title you wish). 3. You can't criticize a doctor unless you have gone to medical school. 4. You can't critize a white person unless you are white. The list goes on and on. Obviously there is an objective truth that can be discovered without everyone in the world having the same experiences as eveyone else. That's why we use reasoning, deduction, and critical thinking to evaluate the merits of positions. An art that is lost in today's rush to insult anyone with an opposing point of view (which is, by the way, the primary weapon of political correctness).
