Pastor Timothy Wright's Car Accident Tragedy
My prayer's are with the Wright family and the other people that were in the collision from the other cars. Words can't describe the hurt we feel about this sudden tragedy. We know this much to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our comfort is that we have another home that God has prepared for those that love Him. For the surviving victims the Lord will strengthen and bring them through! This is preparation time while we are on this earth because we don't know when or how we will leave this planet but know this much, that Jesus died for our sins and arose for our salvation. If you don't know Jesus Christ, now is the accepted time the day of your salvation!
Gasoline engines with Diesel Technology
I find your blog on this subject curious. The technology you refer to will be in production at Ford by 2010 and has been mentioned by the Detroit News several times, yet you report this as something unique to Europeon Automakers? This technology was pioneered by Ford in the 80's right in your hometown. Europe and Japan are way behind. Why do you insist on glamorizing the foreign manufacturers rather than recognizing the hometown folks? Do you think it makes better reading or what is the point?
Upping the ante on fuel economy requirements
Let's see if I understand correctly. Don't drill in the great lakes, don't drill in Alaska, don't drill off our coasts....Don't drill, don't drill, don't drill is what I have heard my entire adult life and now at 34 years old I still hear don't drill. Well at $4 dollars a gallon a gas and world demand rising for oil what should we expect in 10 years? $10 gas??? So by 2020 when the great plans of those that have run the don't drill parade since the 70's have their way we will still be worse off then today.
The great Chuck Schumer of NY made a statement this last week it will be 10 years before this oil comes online and into the supply chain. My question to this great Senator and others is when Clinton vetoed drilling in Alaska in the late 1990's was that a good idea??? That oil would be online today??
Let's not let these same people that have caused this crisis today to be the same people that are on the side of those that are hurting because of these gas prices.
I'm sick and tired of our so called political leaders in this country. If they really cared they would be taking all steps not just some steps.
Kerkorian Ford Stock Purchase
There is no way that Ford can continue as a company without an infusion of money from a Volvo sale. I believe that Kerkorian is positioning himself to make an offer of Ford stock and $$$ for a big chunk of Volvo, which is now an independent financial entity.
Captain Kerk could do the shareholders, The Ford Motor Company, and the Ford family a great big favor by voting to get rid of the "B" class shares' special voting rights and William Clay Ford with them. The stock price would skyrocket.
Felston
More US auto plants closing.
The shareholders of the US companys should realize when they allow CEO's like Rick Wagner to close productive established US plants they are making consumers who will no longer buy their products. We have been asked to be good Americans and buy American products, but when you so grossly overpay your CEO's and over staffed management ranks the company loses billions and the average employees lose their jobs to save money for the corporation. Well I have had enough of Corporate greed at the US workers expense. Until these CEO's and upper management take an extensive pay cut and reopen closed US auto plants I will not purchase anything from their companies. Maybe as they keep losing their marketshare to foriegn companys then somebody like their shareholders will be forced to deal with their gross mismanagement. Or maybe it's time for the working class Americans to finally take it to the over compensated upper class. If the greedy top 3% cannot help us close the income
and benefit gap between us then their greed will be downfall.
Award Congress for Oil Proce Spike
Now that we have a crisis in the domestic economy due to the spike in oil prices, shouldn't we nominate US Congressman such as Bart Stupak [D - MI] for their efforts to block domestic exploration/production?
Mr. Stupak takes credit for the permanent ban on drilling in the Great Lakes and also trumpets his votes against further exploration in Alaska and off shore areas....clearly his "success" at restricting domestic supply and raising the price of oil should be recognized.
I suggest that Detroit News create an award to recognize all political "leaders" who work tirelessly to eliminate jobs in the domestic auto industry....they have certainly achieved their objective.
Autos - fuel economy
Lets face it people, the gasoline engine is a dying breed. Diesel is the way of the future. Look at what the people in Europe and Asia drive - diesels. The BIG THREE just can not see the forest through the trees! This year and next year VW, Audi, Nissan and Subrau will have diesels for sale in this country. An example, VW is introducing is new clean diesel Jetta sudan and wagon late this summer. This diesel is more powerful than the previous VW diesels had on the market. The city MPH is around 45 mpg and the highway MPH is around 60 mpg or better! This will beat ANY hybred on the market today. People say that diesel is more expensive. Yes, that is right, but for every tank of diesel you buy, you would have to buy two tanks of gasoline for the same size car. Diesel is cheaper and the engine will outlast any gasoline engine on the market today. Look at the VW Rabbit that came out in the late 70's, some are still running today!
You think the BIG THREE are hurting now, when all of these diesels hit the market, one or two of these company's may not be around in the end
Toyota lobbyist
I don't know why you have not included in your article that lobbying by foreign governments and foreign companies in the United states is illegal. That clearly is the most important part and clearly given the massive trade imbalances in the United States, particularly with Japan and in automobiles, a clear reason why there are unfair and massive trade imbalances with Japan. Japan is a country which has for over forty years imported massive numbers of Japanese vehicles into the U.S. market while allowing few U.S. vehicles into Japan. While there are a number of Japanese auto and auto supplier producers in this country, Japan has allowed no U.S. ones in Japan. In industry after industry, Japan and Germany together have targeted and destroyed U.S. industries, electronics, steel, machinery, the list goes on and on and they are now working to destroy the U.S. auto industry. These are not only U.S. companies but U.S. defense related companies which are necessary for U.S. defense again something else not commented on. Many U.S. companies, particularly defense related are now being targeted and taken over by these two countries. Some of this is in www.economictakeover.com. But I am disturbed not only by what is being done by these countries but the lack of adequate news coverage regarding these issues.
Chevrolet redesigns the Aveo
"Chevrolet redesigns the Aveo; Poland to supply Europe, Korea the US
Posted by Neil Winton on Fri, May 30, 2008
... The new Aveo goes on sale in the U.S. in early July. There will be two models, the LS and LT - both 5-door hatchbacks with 1.6 litre engines. ...
Chevrolet Aveo - Engine 1.2 litre 4 cylinder gasoline; power 84 bhp @ 6,000; torque 84 lb foot @ 3,800 rpm; 0-60 mph 12.6 seconds; max speed 106 mph; fuel consumption average 42.8 mpg; price to be announced"
The 1.6 liter US machine is EPA rated 27 mpg(US) combined average.
Meanwhile, the EU version with the 1.2L M5 gas engine is VCA rated about 42.8 mpg(US) combined cycle while the 1.4 liter M5 gets almost 40 mpg(US) and with the 4 spd automatic gets 36.7 mpg(US).
Would you consider a 1.2 liter Aveo ... IF ... it got almost the same fuel economy as a Civic or Prius hybrid (42 to 46 mpg) ... and only cost somewhere between $11k and $14k?
Is there an OPPORTUNITY here for the US consumer ... AND GM?
This does raise the question whether the Korean built machine is the same as the new EU version?
Well, we can see ... IT DOES NOT EVEN REQUIRE DIESEL to get to HIGH mpg!

Grey Market A Good Thing
Did't see whether Navi's are offered through the Ford dealer network in China, but if not, why would any OEM mind such an import? In the absence of a dealer offering, blocking the import of such vehicles only leads to the buyer going to another model, brand, and likely OEM... and a lost sale.
Dismanteling PAG vis a vis J Mays
Gosh, best thing about PAG is that it helped justify the launching of a London, GB design studio and home for J Mays. I sure hope now that PAG is past-tense, that it doesn't mean that J will return and again have time to ruin the design of Ford, Lincon and Mercurys...
