Pistons Talk

What have they been up to this summer?

I just hope Antoine Walker doesn't teach AJ the shimmy shake.

Darko on the move again?

Big Cee...yeah I saw that ditty on ESPN. The Knicks would actually be the perfect team for Darko. First off, it would give the Knicks a huge front line of Darko and Curry. That's 560 lbs and 14 feet between the two of them.

Also, Darko's game might compliment Curry's. They could play a high post, low post game like Laimbeer and Buddah, back in the day. And, Darko can pass, so he might be able to hit Curry in the post. And Darko's a decent weak side shot blocker, which the Knicks desparately need.

But most important, the expectations for the Knicks are so low, that any success they might have would reflect well on Darko.

What have they been up to this summer?

Merc: Damnit man!! I could have done without the news about AJ hanging with Twannie. No matter how I spin that one it dosen't come out in a positive light. That's worse news than if he had broken a bone.

Wisefan is gonna have a field day with that nugget:)

Getting in Shape

I also heard SHEED's been working out and getting his legs conditioned.

When you have an 82 Game Schedule plus putting on a show you had better be in shape.I mean 82 DANCES during the season is not something the average guy can do.YOU GO BIG FELLA!!!!!!!

Coming to play for 82 games would be cool too.

Coaching

Is the biggest unknown.

Coaches live off of respect and the power to determine playing time. On this team, the only ones concerned deeply about playing time are the youngsters, followed by some of the younger vets... Sheed don't give a flying crap.

If Curry had enough principles to lose games, he is in a powerful position, he can hurt and not care. However, if he NEEDS to win games, he'll be Flip Saunders after 20 games unless everything is going right, and the youngsters are producing.

Our youngster will produce, but I wouldn't expect consistency from them until midseason, and that includes Stuckey, his rookie mistakes aren't in his past yet.

On another subject. Lee, it would be a great service to the community if you could find a winning lineup for the Lions. Brother, these chumps suck turkey butt!

Mon. 09/8/08 02:51 AM

A rotation

Lee, maybe you should just stick to Pokemon Stadium. Who's gonna guard Dwight Howard?

Mon. 09/8/08 12:23 AM

Questions?

How would Mad Max react If A.Johnson was to get the starting job over him? How would Big Ego react if Stucky got the crunch time Min over him? How would 3Sheed react if he only played 18 min per game? How better would Prince be If he went to the Wizard and found some balls to be the 19 to 20 pts scorer he can really be in the NBA? How will Old Man Mac D react to having a lot of DNP's (did not play coaches decision)? Here is something else we are not talking about, the back-up small forward. Can Hermann put that spot on Lock Down or will Walter Sharp be one of thoes types of second round guys like Mike Redd,Monte Ellis, Gilbert, and C.Boozer? We will be finding out in like 3 more weeks people. Also lets not forget about Walter Sharp getting bigger and showing the Pistons that he should be playing the PF position.

What have they been up to this summer?

Since we rarely get any news on the six time East conf champs (does any Detroit team get less coverage during the offseason?) I decided to do a little digging to see what the fellas have been up to this summer... this is what came up...

Langlois - I've heard good things about his (Sheed's) level of conditioning over the summer

The 3rd annual Elite 24 game was at Harlem's Rucker Park, Chauncey Billups coached this year's game along with Kenny Anderson

Taking over a VIP loft at LAX Nightclub last night was America's Best Dance Crew season two champions, Super Cr3w. The West Coast b-boy troupe danced their way to a luxurious second story loft where they spent the evening soaking in the limelight. The members of the dance crew sipped on Belvedere Vodka and showed off their signature moves to the master mixes of DJ Hollywood. Also spotted taking in the sexy scene were NBA players Antoine Walker of the Memphis Grizzlies and Amir Johnson of the Detroit Pistons. The kings of the court snagged VIP tables on the main stage where their entourage joined them for Grey Goose Vodka cocktails. Walker and Johnson partied with their pals until the morning hours, topping off their night with Dom Perignon Champagne.

Amir spent a few weeks in Los Angeles working on his lower base strength assigned by the Pistons.

Kwame Brown has been in town since his signing and has stayed on to workout with the young players in camp (which should be underway now)

People wondered what celebrity would join Coatesville's own Detroit Piston star Richard "Rip" Hamilton in the park for Rip City Day. People were captivated by Yung Berg as the young rapper entertained crowds Friday in Ash Park during the ninth annual Rip City celebration

Hamilton, who moved from Coatesville long ago to pursue an NBA career, gives back to the city of his childhood through the Rip City Foundation. The foundation and other sponsors host the annual event in Ash Park, where Coatesville residents can eat, drink and participate in games and music, all free of charge.

Events for children include a basketball and dance competition.

Tents set up in the park provide information on healthy living in keeping with this year's theme of "Strong Bodies, Strong Minds."

As people waited in line for food, local Coatesville DJ Stevie Steve was spinning tunes on a stage set up on one side of the park.

Many of the people at the festival come every year, such as Deborah Burton of Poplar Street, who has been to all nine Rip City Days and has volunteered at the last seven.

When the dance contest started, the crowds thronged around the stage and Hamilton congratulated winners.

One Bad Mo

For the playoffs, I don't see Dyess as being more than a spot player, an extra defender against larger front lines. But during the season, 12 minutes is not too much to ask to give him to keep him game ready. (Of course, I believe in fair competition; any of several players, including Dyess, could garner more minutes than some imagine - if they show to be the better player. Dyess could end up playing more than 12 minutes a game - or far less, during the regular season.)

Joe's marriage

Joe just hopes that 50 cent HO doesn't turn into FrankenHooker!

Darko on the move again?

Yeah that's an interesting deal... my first thought is why does Memphis wanna go into cap hell for a guy that can't play "D" and won't get them over the top... not that Darko and Jaric will get it done for them but this could shoot the Griz in the foot for a lotta years.
I could actually see Darko thriving in a run n' gun system where he doesn't have to think too much... running was his strength at Hemofarm.
Quick question.. most likely not to suceed Kwame or Darko?

Joe's marriage

"There's always that new Ho (Kwame) to satisfy today's needs while keeping hope alive."

Mercury my Uncle use to tell me to never jeopardise home for a 'ho' that has less than what you already have at home. IMO Joe just mortgaged his marriage....

Joe's marriage

When you listen to a Pastor talk to the bride & groom they talk about working through the inevitable tough times and remembering what originally brought you together.
Could be Joe is hanging on to the great honeymoon knowing that once it's over there's no turning back.
She's older, fatter but she sure did rock your world before (2004).
He's got a new marriage councilor (MC) to try to restore the promise while he keeps in touch with this young chick (Amir, Samb, Stuckey, Afflalo)... but he's gotta be sure this is gonna be the real deal.
There's always that new Ho (Kwame) to satisfy today's needs while keeping hope alive.
A good marriage is not easily tossed aside... as they say " 'til death do you part".

Darko on the move again?

The Knicks have a trade proposal on the table with the Memphis Grizzlies that would see Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric dealt to New York in exchange for Zach Randolph.

An executive with knowledge of the trade talks said Friday that Knicks president Donnie Walsh initiated the Randolph-to-Memphis talks with the Grizzlies recently and it's up to Walsh to sign off on the deal. But it appears Walsh has cooled to the idea of trading his player, the executive said.

A Knicks spokesman declined comment Friday.

Milicic is reportedly owed $14.5 million over the next two seasons, and Jaric will make $21.3 million the next three seasons. The Knicks want to trade Randoph because his contract runs through 2010-11. He will be paid nearly $48 million over those three seasons.

The move would help the Knicks with their salary cap. It has been widely perceived that their goal is get under the cap before the summer of 2010 so they can make a run at LeBron James and other high-profile free agents who will hit the market that offseason.
