scatch on Forte
I watched the first 3 quarters last night and Forte looked solid. The announcers were sure talking him up. I watched him in the preseason and he didn't do much (kind of like Kevin Smith) but he elevated his game last night. He seems a workman type, straight ahead back (not flashy but solid). Has decent wheels but he's not that shifty. Seems to have a good grasp of the game (blocking, catching out of the backfield etc.). I don't yet see star quality but should be a good solid pro.

The Falcons may not be as bad as everyone expected them to be either. The GM didn't pussyfoot around and gutted the team, They drafted some decent young guys last year, they unloaded some of their top vets who hadn't stepped up and they stuck to their guns and drafted Ryan when a lot of people were questioning if he was worthy of that high a pick. They went out and spent a ton of cash on Turner and that seems to have paid off so far. If elmer took this Lions team over and the players didn't fit the system, why have they taken 3 years to overturn the roster in a half a$$ed way and still don't seem to have the players to handle the job.I'm sure Marinelli doesn't teach tackling (or lack of) like we saw yesterday. He did help to get the talent( or lack of) here tho and the players are the ones on the field playing. We have been hearing how this T2 takes years to get down for the players. I don't buy that. Tackling and defense is pretty simple stuff. I realize the game at that level IS more complex, but come on! I was afraid with all the Ex Bucs that while these guys may know where they are supposed to be mentally, they may not be able to get there physically anymore. Is that what we saw yesterday? The holes the Lions had before the draft last year, they created themselves by NOT taking players in the draft the previous years they should have. I think we saw yesterday, that by getting rid of the Rogers cancer in the middle of the Dline, it exposed just how bad the guys around him were! Did Rogers take plays off? He probably looked around him and said "what's the use?"
Bears Crap
You guys just have to put up with other Lions' fans. I've got to deal with da Bears...they beat the Colts last nite. They have a rook RB, who ran for 100 plus yards. Ofcourse, he had a real offensive line. No George Foster or Raiola in their line. I gotta admit...Kreutz is one ugly monster at center. He doesn't get pushed back by anyone...and, if he does, he goes ballistic, and gets plain dirty for the rest of the game. Probably one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. But, he gets the job done. When I get to class, my students will really give it to me. I deserve it.
Lions Season
There is only one way to approach this season under Ford and Millen. Based on a complete lack of ability to judge talent, this is an 0-16 team. If they happen to win a game, the Snoil become a 1-15 team. If they run off 3 wins in a row, they become a 3-13 team. They do not deserve the benefit of the fans' belief that they are capable of winning a single game. This was Atlanta, and we were actually favored. And to think, we have a hed coach with a successful defensive record. The Lions curse owns Marinelli. If they go to overtime, he will be the second coach in NFL history to take the wind. Not his fault. It starts with the owner and ends with Millen.

Lions caught looking ahead.....
Can't believe that one. This was a must win for this team. Lions are 8-49 in away games during Millen's time here. I really can't believe these guys were looking ahead. You just saw the reason why I don't post here as often. It gets tiring talking about the same ole failures.
Last year they were caught looking back...Start 6-2, and then finish 1-7. Guess which team we got this season ??
Life's a
bit## watching the ship sail into the sun-set with my money !lost half a big one on them fools...........what a bunch of pirates they turned out to be................What the buc !
keep in mind ......mum's .....always said " when you point fingers you always have three more ,pointing back at you "

Kind of like when they hired Marty, and then Mooch the offensive guys and they continued to suck at offense. Mind boggling.
No Change
Remember a couple of years ago, against the Packers, when Ahmad Green ran over the Lions, tackling was a problem even back then? Amazing how some things don't change. Marinelli was billed as a coach who could change things because he was a defensive guy. And, then, he brought in "his" guys...players he knew...in a system they all were accustomed to. O'Hara, the Lions' Shill Flim Flam Man, all came out with this crapola that this season was going to be the beginning of something new. Man, how things seem so old, so fast. Our cherry was broken years ago. By a team that is considered one of the worst in the entire NFL, by a rookie QB, a rookie coach, with a runner who sets their franchise rushing record in his first game with his new team, in a stadium hardly half full. How the Lions don't disappoint. What does Millen say to his boss today? "Well, Mr Ford, the more things change, the more they stay the same."
The Lions opener
What is remarkable to me is how many people actually care about how the Lions do.
If you want to see a football game head over to your local school and watch one there. They are more enjoyable to watch and the minimal fee goes back into the community not a bunch of over paid celebrities.
I bet if Ron Paul said he was going to give you 12 months of NFL a year he would get your vote in November.

positives? I thought Harris punted very well, always a strong point of Lions teams since they get to work on it a lot. What did you think of Forte' in the Bears game? The Bears D looked like it's back and Marcus Harrison the Kid they drafted at DT had a sack and has looked good in camp I hear.
The Lions and the running game.
Isn't it typical of this franchise? I mean, only the Lions would try to install an offense designed to run the ball without having an NFL caliber offensive line and without an NFL caliber running back. The stupidity of the people running this team knows no bounds.
Coach Marinelli doesn't want anyone pointing fingers because they would aim directly at him and Matt Millen. The Atlanta Falcons are an expansion team. After Michael Vick Dogfighting conviction the team was gutted and stripped to the bone. New Coach, GM, and all new players the Falcons are at ground zero of a new era. Our Lions had no business on the same field with a team starting from rock bottom. I'll point a finger at incompetence and total football ignorance that is the Detroit Lions. The same stentch that has stunk up NFL Football in this town since the Fords bought the team in the early 60s. My finger is about to fall off, because I've havd to point it for so long. Mr.Ford, PLEASE SELL THIS TEAM.

Yesterday proved that the entire Lion's organization should be ashamed of themselves from the top all the way down to the bottom. Nothing against Merinelli, but this job is way above him. And it has been painfully obvious for Millen. And these people in the organization should be ashamed to cash in their paychecks. Do we Believe??? I believe that it will be the same season all over again....Horrible run blocking, horrible pass protection, Horrible play calling (3rd and 7, run a pass play where the primary receiver runs a 5 yard route), and a team that has made it to the NFL and has no tackling skills. Ahh....The Detroit Lions...Where talent goes to die.
Barry Sanders saw this years ago, and he did the only thing that he could. Why does no one see this or why do they not want to change it???
Hope the Fords are proud of themselves and this business they have. I am now a true Hater......
draft choices
Millen has a dismal record drafting players. Who's the guy he picked no. 1 last year, the OL nobody had heard of? If your choice in the first round isn't an instant starter, you've made a big mistake. However, Millen seems to make mistake in all the rounds.
Is there any chance...
that we saw the makings of the greatest offensive line to ever play the game?
I'm talking about the Falcons!
